Over the past couple of years, we have been seeing the use of reclaimed or “rugged” wood introduced into kitchens designs.  Usually these take the form of tables for islands, beams and other architectural elements, or smaller furniture pieces rather than the cabinetry as a whole.

As you can see, sleek cabinetry and contemporary hardware and tile can be combined with worn, lived-in wood pieces and chunky countertops to strike a very interesting balance.

You can even being in this aesthetic with accessories.  This planter was crafted here in Portland OR for one of our clients. Visit http://www.adbusch.com/ for more details.
